What happens at the end of life of your bio-plastic?

When PHA is discarded, it will biodegrade. How fast it biodegrades depends on how many bacteria can get to it. In environments with large amounts of bacteria (e.g. compost rows), it can degrade in a month. In a clean and stable environment, like  a store shelf, it can be kept for years.

What types of waste can you turn into bio-plastic?

Full Cycle can convert any organic waste into PHA. This includes unrecyclable food waste, agricultural residues, and green waste. Anything that can normally go into a compost row or an anaerobic digester can be converted to PHA! This does not include petroleum based plastics, because they are not organically based.

Full Cycle can also convert dirty, unrecyclable cellulosic material such a unrecyclable paper or cardboard.

How degradable is your bio-plastic?

PHA is home compostable, industrially compostable, and marine degradable, all while being shelf stable for years!

Will your bio-plastic degrade on the shelf?

No! Our PHA is shelf stable and only degrades in environments that contain bacteria.

How recyclable is your bio-plastic?

Like most bio-plastics, our PHA is not recyclable with other oil-based plastics, and should not be thrown in the traditional plastic recycling stream (blue bin). Instead, our PHA is UP-Cycleable. When our PHA is thrown into the organics/food waste/green waste stream (green bin in most places), it can be taken to a Full Cycle facility, broken down and remade into virgin PHA, just like the other organic waste.

When can I buy your bio-plastic?

How can I help Full Cycle Bio-plastics?

Full Cycle appreciates your support! The best way to help is to spread the message and help tell the big companies that use plastics for disposable applications to use sustainable materials, like Full Cycle’s PHA!

The biggest hurdle to getting Full Cycle PHA into the market is the time and money it takes to scale this amazing technology. While Full Cycle is a for-profit company, we have received a good deal of interest in donating to help accelerate our pace to market. With that in mind, we have set up a Patreon page that can accept gifts, and they are all very much appreciated!
